The area along the perimeter of the house where the earth meets the foundation should have a barrier of loose crushed stone to provide a buffer. Installing a drip edge will prevent unsightly dirt stains on the house from rainwater splashing down into mulch beds and on the sills of the house. It will keep the house clean, prevent rotting and keeps insects at bay.
Aluminum edging or steel edging is installed to retain the crushed stone.
